Making a game in the Codecademy environment is nice and all, but you might be wondering “how do I make a game for myself that doesn’t require logging into Codecademy that I can share with everyone?” Well this article is for you, we’re going to cover the following steps to set you up in your game development environment:

  • Installing VSCode, a full-featured text editor well-suited for writing code.
  • Installing the Live Server plugin for VSCode to serve our assets and files.
  • Setting up a project with a game we’ve made, editing it in VSCode and seeing our changes locally.
